Ján Cikker Award 2026 – A Celebration of Slovak Music with the Support of HOLLEN
HOLLEN has long supported values that enrich society not only economically, but also culturally. As part of this vision, it aims to contribute to the promotion of Slovak musical culture, and therefore supports the Ján Cikker Award 2026, which is presented annually by the Ján Cikker Foundation for outstanding contributions to promoting the work of this brilliant Slovak composer.
This year, the award goes to the Slovak Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Ewald Danel – a legendary chamber ensemble of the Slovak Philharmonic, which has represented Slovak musical culture at home and around the world for more than six decades.
A Tradition that Supports Excellence
HOLLEN thus publicly demonstrates its support for traditional and masterful art that has endured across generations and continues to make a strong impression on people today.
The orchestra is an important part of the Cikker legacy – it does not stop at the original configurations of the works, but also promotes Ján Cikker’s music through arrangements and transcriptions that express a genuine admiration for his compositions.
Through this support, HOLLEN also recognizes the importance of connecting tradition with more modern approaches, such as the jazz version of the Slovak Suite, which has shown that Cikker’s music belongs to everyone, not just specialists
Gala Concert in Bratislava
The ceremonial presentation of the Ján Cikker Award 2026 will take place on April 20, 2026, at 6:00 PM in the Mirror Hall of the Primate’s Palace in Bratislava and is open to the general public.
In doing so, HOLLEN also supports audiences who want to experience live music, history, and the stories of the people who preserve it.
